There are days that are just... days like that.
Days when you're hurt and wronged, but somehow can't bring yourself to say it out loud.
Even X, who always seemed so composed, so robotic, wants to go back to an age when it was still okay to fall apart in front of someone. Back then, all X wanted was to grow up faster.
There's no paradise where you run to. X knows that too.
All X wants is a little common sense.
"I used to lose it over injustice, over things that just weren't right. Now I just... adapt, I guess. Speaking up only makes things exhausting, and nothing changes anyway."
X said.
"I feel like I'm slowly turning into the frog that gave up on escaping the well."
Maybe, X thought, helplessness really is something you learn.
"You know, X — every office worker feels this way."
"Really? Even at the big companies?"
"Even there, someone will find a way to wear you down."
X didn't look particularly surprised.
"Then I just don't want to be around people anymore. I want to go live somewhere with none of them."
X said it like a sulking kid, half-aware of how absurd it sounded.
"I'm about to get feisty. You know the Bong Joon-ho pudgy face meme?"
The randomness of it made B laugh, just a little.
"Okay, okay. Just don't turn that on me."
Wiping the tears welling in X's eyes, B said it again.
"It's okay. Just don't be mean to me."
Only then could X finally sob uncontrollably, freely, in B's arms.
